La Lila es un Arbusto antiguo
Pero más antigua
Es la Lila del Firmamento
Esta Noche sobre la Colina-
El Sol declinando en su Curso
Cede esta planta última
A la Contemplación -no al Tacto-
La Flor Occidental.
De una sola Corola está hecho el Oeste-
El Cáliz es la Tierra-
Las pulidas Semillas en sus Vainas las Estrellas-
El Científico de la Fe
Apenas ha comenzado su investigación-
Más allá de su Síntesis
La Flora irreprochable
Ante el Análisis del Tiempo-
"Lo que ningún ojo vio" tal vez
Sea aplicable entre los Ciegos
Pero no se permita que la Revelación
Sea aprisionada por la Tesis.

But ancienter than that
The Firmamental Lilac
Upon the Hill Tonight -
The Sun subsiding on his Course
Bequeathes this final plant
To Contemplation - not to Touch -
The Flower of Occident.
Of one Corolla is the West -
The Calyx is the Earth -
The Capsule's burnished Seeds the Stars -
The Scientist of Faith
His research has but just begun -
Above his Synthesis
The Flora unimpeachable
To Time's Analysis -
"Eye hath not seen" may possibly
Be current with the Blind
But let not Revelation
By Theses be detained -
